The Kirk Session of Kiltearn was united with the parish of Lemlair in 1618. The parish appears to have been referred to for a time as Kiltearn and Lemlair, however Lemlair was later dropped form the name. Ministry of the parish of Kiltearn is recorded from 1560 in the person of Donald Munro. A new parish church was erected in 1791, however due to it having fallen into a state of disrepair, in 1950 the old Hogg Memorial Hall was dedicated as the Parish Church. The church of 1791 presently stands in ruins. The kirk session of Kiltearn sat within the Presbytery of Dingwall, later of Chanonry and Dingwall and, following the reorganisation of the presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
