The church of Kirkoswald, Ayrshire, originally served a medieval parish which was appropriated to Crossraguel Abbey. The successor to the medieval building, which still stands as a ruin, is in the village of Kirkoswald and dates from 1777. The charge is in Ayr presbytery and was in the synod of Glasgow and Ayr until the reorganisation of 1929, thereafter in the synod of Ayr. Synods were abolished in 1993. After 1929 it was briefly Kirkoswald St Oswald?s, but in 1931 united with the former Free church (then Kirkoswald John Knox) as Kirkoswald. |
