The Synod of Argyll was erected by the General Assembly on the 18th December 1638 and the register of the Synod commences on the 24th April 1639. There were initially five presbyteries assigned to the Synod namely: Dunoon, Kinloch, Inveraray, Kilmore and Skye. Kinloch was later restyled as Campbeltown and Kilmore was restyled to become the Presbytery of Lorn. In 1742 the Presbytery of Skye was transferred to the Synod of Glenelg. |
