The ancient church of Nigg, which now stands in ruins, was dedicated to St Fiachra and formerly belonged to the Abbey of Arbroath. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567 in the person of David Menzies. In 1626 the old church of Nigg was largely rebuilt, and after falling into a ruinous state it was replaced by the present church in 1829. The kirk session of Nigg, which sat within the Presbytery of Aberdeen, has recently been dissolved and the church and church halls were put up for sale in 2002. |
