The church of Daviot was dedicated to St Colm and was formerly a prebend of Aberdeen. Ministry of the church is recorded from 1567 in the person of John Leslie, reader here and also at Rayne. The present day church was built in 1798 and was later restored in 1830. In 1973 a link was established between Daviot and Rayne and a further link later followed with Culsalmond. Culsalmond and Rayne were united in 1989, following the union the link with Daviot continued. Daviot kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Garioch until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Gordon. |
