In 1504, on an island in the Loch of Clunie, there was a Chapel of St Katherine founded. In addition to this Chapel there existed four other chapels within the Parish of Clunie, all of which stood in ruin at the close of the 18th century. The present day church of Clunie was erected in 1840, replacing the previous parish church which was built in 1732. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1561 in the person of William Salmon. In 1962 Clunie was united with the session of Lethendy and Kinloch under the name of Clunie, Lethendy and Kinloch and a further union followed in 1983 between the united session and Caputh and Murthly to form the session of Caputh and Clunie. Kinclaven was later linked with Caputh and Murthly in 1989. The Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Dunkeld, later of Meigle and following the restructuring of the presbyteries it became part of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
