The church of Kemnay was dedicated to St Anne and it existed in the 15th century as a vicarage belonging to the parsonage of Kinkell. In around 1500 Kemnay parish was united to that of Craigern. The present parish church was built in 1844. In 1935, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Kemnay Parish Church was united with the former United Free congregation of Kemnay West. After the union the parish church remained in use and the former West Church was converted into church halls. The Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Garioch until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Gordon. |
