The parish of Grange was severed from that of Keith in 1618. Ministry of the parish is recorded from the same year in the person of Robert Watson. Upon the establishment of the parish a chapel, which had been erected by Kinloss Abbey prior to the reformation, became the Parish Church of Grange. The present parish church was later erected in 1795. In 1939, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Grange Parish Church was united with the former United Free congregation of Grange West-Whitehill. After the local union churches at Grange and at Whitehill continued in use for public worship. In 1975 the parish of Rothiemay was linked with Grange. The Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Strathbogie until, by Act of Union of 1961, the Presbytery of Strathbogie and the Presbytery of Fordyce were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Strathbogie and Fordyce. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 Grange became part of the Presbytery of Moray. |
