On 3 March 1357, David II granted to William Napier half caracute of the lands of Kilmahew in which the chapel of Kylenchak was situated. The medieval church was a prebend of Glasgow, being a mensal church of the Archbishop. Ministry began in 1563 in the person of John Cook, reader. Throughout its existence the session has been within the jurisdiction of Dumbarton Presbytery. The churches of Cardross and Kilmahew united towards the end of the sixteenth century. On 6 May 1941 the church was destroyed by bombing. On 17 May 1945 the session united with the former United Free Church Session of Cardross Burns as Cardross Parish Church. |
