The Church of Forgue was dedicated to St Margaret and prior to the reformation it belonged to the Abbey of Arbroath. Ministry of the parish is recorded from 1574 in the person of Andrew Spens. The present parish church of Forgue was built in 1819. In 1955 Inverkeithny was united with Forgue Old under the name of Forgue-Inverkeithny and the united session later formed a union with Yhanwels Auchaber in 1992, under the name of Auchaber United. Auchaber United was linked in the following year with Auchterless. The kirk session of Forgue sat within the Presbytery of Turiff until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Buchan. |
