The Kirk Session of Dalkeith West was disjoined from Dalkeith Parish and erected into a parish quoad sacra in 1853. The church was built in 1840 and endowed by Walter Francis, Duke of Buccleuch. Ministry of the church is recorded from 1854 in the person of James Reid. In 1955 Dalkeith West was united to the former United Free Church congregation of Dalkeith Buccleuch Street. Following the union the session became known as Dalkeith Buccleuch Street. Dalkeith Buccleuch Street was later united with Dalkeith St Nicholas in 1979 under the name of Dalkeith St Nicholas Buccleuch. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dalkeith until the reorganisation of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Lothian. |
