The Parish of Rattray originally formed a prebend belonging to the Sub-Dean of Dunkeld. Ministry of the church is recorded from 1574 in the person of Donald Cargill. In 1946, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Rattray Parish Church was united with the former United Free congregation of Rattray East. After the local union both churches remained in use. In 1988 the parish of Kirkmichael, Straloch and Glenshee was linked with Rattray. Rattray Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Dunkeld, later of Meigle and it presently sits within the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
