The Presbytery of Greenock was erected by the General Assembly in 1834 and the register begins in the same year. The parishes of the Presbytery were all annexed from Paisley, with the exception of Largs and Cumbrae both of which were severed from the Presbytery of Irvine. The Presbytery of Greenock formerly sat within the Synod of Glasgow and Ayr. |
