The Kirk Session of Legerwood was established following the Reformation in 1560. Ministers to the parish are recorded from 1564. Prior to the Reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Paisley. Legerwood formed part of the Presbytery of Selkirk until 1613, the Presbytery of Earlston from 1613 to 1929, the Presbytery of Melrose from 1929 to 1955, the Presbytery of Duns, since 1955. In 1963, it was linked with Westruther, in 1970, with Gordon St. Michael?s, and from 1985 with Gordon St. Michael?s with Greenlaw. |
