The vicarage of Rhynd, prior to the reformation, belonged to the Priory of Pittenweem. Ministry of the parish is recorded from 1567 in the person of Patrick Wemyss. Rhynd church was rebuilt in 1842 to replace an earlier building, thought to have been erected around 200 years prior, the ruins of which can still be seen. The 16th century building was sited in the south-east corner of the parish however the present church was constructed at an alternative and more central situation. Craigend was linked with Rhynd in 1940 however this link was severed in 1947, but only for a number of years, and the two sessions were once again linked in 1953. In 1974 Craigend (linked with Rhynd) and Perth Moncreiff were united together and Rynd was later united with Perth Moncreiff under the name of Perth Moncreiff. The kirk session of Rhynd sat within the Presbytery of Perth. |
