A church was first erected at Garelochhead in 1938 and the parish of Garelochhead was later disjoined from Row and Roseneath and erected into a parish quoad sacra in 1873. In 1938, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Garelochhead Parish Church was united with the former United Free congregation of Garelochhead West, which has been suppressed between the years of 1929 and 1933 . After the local union the Garelochhead West church was sold and the old parish church remained in use for public worship. The kirk session of Garelochhead sits within the Presbytery of Dumbarton. |
