The church of Methven was dedicated to St Methven and in 1433, Walter Earl of Atholl, granted it as a collegiate foundation. In 1930, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Methven Parish Church was united with the former United Free congregation of Methven East. After the local union the Methven East church was sold and the old parish church remained in use for public worship. In 1978 Methven was linked with Gask and the linked charge was later united, in 1995, with Logiealmond to form the session of Methven and Logiealmond. Methven kirk session sat within the presbytery of Perth. |
