The parishes of Eassie and Nevay were united on the 21st March 1600. Following the union both the old church of Eassie and of Nevay remained in use as places of worship. One was situated at the western extremity of the parish and the other at the eastern. Both however now stand in a state of ruin as a new church was later built in around 1838 at a central location, suitable to serve both parishes. Newtyle was linked with Eassie and Nevay in 1966. The kirk session sat within the presbytery of Meigle until after the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
