Newcraighall kirk session began in 1878 when the church was opened as a chapel of ease within Inveresk Parish. A minister was later inducted here in 1886 and Newcraighall was in that same year disjoined quoad sacra from Inveresk. The session was later linked with Richmond Craigmiller in 1973 and in 1983 the two congregations united to form the session of Newcraighall and Richmond Craigmillar. Following the union both churches remained in use for worship however Newcraighall was later dropped from the name of the session. The kirk session originally sat within the Presbytery of Dalkeith but was transferred to the Presbytery of Edinburgh in 1929. |
