history |
Balquhidder Church was dedicated to St Angus and it is believed that the original church was built over his grave. A second church was built to replace this in 1631 and the present church was built in 1855 by David Carnegie of Stronvar. Robert Roy MacGregor (Rob Roy, 1671-1734) is buried at Balquhidder. The kirk session is part of the Presbytery of Stirling, but was for a time part of the Presbytery of Dunblane, later Stirling and Dunblane. The parish of Lochearnhead was united with Balquhidder in 1937 and in 1996 Balquhidder was linked with Killin and Ardeonaig. |
