Prior to the reformation the church of Moneydie existed as a prebend of Dunkeld. Ministry here is recorded from 1561 in the person of William Laing. In 1758 the kirk session was disjoined from the Presbytery of Dunkeld by the General Assembly and added to the Presbytery of Perth. Around the same year it appears also that the Parish of Logiealmond was disjoined from Moneydie's neighbouring parish of Monzie and annexed quoad sacra to Moneydie. A new parish church was later built in 1813. The parish of Auchtergaven and Moneydie was formed in 1979 by the union of the two named parishes. |
