Cruden, which was known of old as Invercruden, was dedicated to St Olaf and prior to the reformation was a prebend of Old Machar. Following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, the former United Free Church of Cruden West was united with Cruden parish church in 1959 under the name of Cruden. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Ellon, later of Aberdeen and presently of Buchan. The Cruden parish church was built in 1776. |
