The church of Kilmonivaig was dedicated to St Naomhan and prior to the reformation belonged to the Priory of Ardchattan. A mission chapel was erected in the parish at Brae Lochaber. It would appear that, from the reformation, the church lay vacant for a time, and ministry was not settled here until the appointment of Archibald Campbell in 1720. The church of Kilmonivaig was later rebuilt in 1812. Glengarry was linked with Kilmonivaig in 1974, this linkage was however terminated in 1987 in favour of a linkage in the same year with Fort William Duncansburgh. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Abertaff and later of Lochaber. |
