The church of Kirkmahoe is dedicated to St Mungo and there existed a mission chapel within the parish at Dalswinton. In 1929, at the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, the United Free Congregation of Kirkmahoe was united with the parish church congregation. The former United Free Church was subsequently sold and the parish church, which was built in 1822 and restored in 1926, remained in use for public worship. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dumfries and later of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright. |
