The church of the parish of Kilmuir Easter was dedicated to St Mary and it is thought that a part of the tower on the present church building, erected in 1798, may date back as far as the early 11th century. Following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Kilmuir-Easter parish church was united with the United Free Church congregation of Kilmuir-Easter West in 1940. After the union, the Kilmuir-Easter West church was sold and the old parish church continued in use for public worship. In 1976 Logie Easter and Kilmuir Easter were united to form the parish of Kilmuir and Logie Easter. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Tain and later of Ross. |
