The church of Colmonell, Ayrshire, originally served a medieval parish which belonged to the priory of Iona and later to Holyrood Abbey. Its earlier name had been Kilcolmanel, afterwards Kilconstantin. After the Reformation it was in the presbytery of Ayr and synod of Glasgow and Ayr, but in 1699 it was transferred to the presbytery of Stranraer and synod of Galloway. The church was rebuilt in 1772. It now forms part of Arnsheen Barrhill linked with Colmonell, which is in the presbytery of Ayr. |
