The church of Sorn, Ayrshire, was disjoined from Mauchline in 1656 and a church building was erected near Sorn castle two years later. It did not become a parish until 1692, however, and was then known as Dalgain. The charge is in Ayr presbytery and is now linked with Catrine. Until the reorganisation of 1929 it was in the synod of Glasgow and Ayr, thereafter in that of Ayr until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
