The Presbytery of Hamilton was erected by the General Assembly in the year 1590 and the register of the Presbytery begins on the 6th September 1687. The presbytery formerly sat within the Synod of Glasgow and Ayr and later of Clydesdale. Presbyteries have the duty of caring for the well-being of its ministers and for those who are candidates for the ministry. |
