The Presbytery of Irvine sanctioned the building of a new chapel with its own district within Kilmarnock parish in 1842. The chapel was to be called St Andrew's Kilmarnock and both the church and the district of St Andrews were erected into a parish quoad sacra by the Court of Teind on the 19th June 1867. Kilmarnock St Andrews was linked with Glencairn in November 1954 but the linkage was later terminated in 1967 to permit a union between the two sessions under the name of Kilmarnock St Andrew's-Glencairn. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Irvine and later of Irvine and Kilmarnock. |
