The parish of Humbie was established soon after the reformation and was formed from the ancient parishes of Keith and Humbie, known at the end of the 17th century as Keith-Symmars and Keith-Hundeby. Prior to the reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Kelso. In 1891 an area of the parish was annexed and transferred to the parish of Fala and Soutra. The present day parish church was built in 1800. Yester was linked to the parish of Humbie in 1977 and with Bolton and Saltoun in 1979. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Haddington, later of Haddington and Dunbar and presently of Lothian. |
