The Kirk Session of Melrose St Cuthbert?s (earlier known as Melrose Old) was established following the Reformation in 1560. Ministers to the parish are recorded from 1562. Prior to the Reformation, the church belonged to Melrose Abbey. Melrose St. Cuthbert?s formed part of the Presbytery of Selkirk until 1929, and part of the Presbytery of Melrose from 1929 to 1976. With the restructuring of presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles. In 1946, Melrose Old united with Melrose St. Aidan?s, taking the name Melrose St Cuthbert?s. In 1984, Melrose St Cuthbert?s was united with Melrose High Cross, under the name Melrose. |
