The church of Wilton (Hawick), prior to the reformation, belonged to the Archbishop of Glasgow and ministry here is recorded from 1567 in the person of Thomas Westoun. There was a new parish church built in Wilton in 1861, (the previous church had been erected in 1762) ,which was later enlarged in 1908. In 1973 Wilton was linked with Hawick Burnfoot, this link was however terminated in 1978 and Hawick Wilton was further linked with Teviothead in 1989. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Jedburgh. |
