The parish of Strathdon was known of old as Invernochtie and the church was dedicated to St Andrew. Strathdon church was granted to the priory of Monymusk in the 11th century and in 1356 it was erected into a prebend of Aberdeen Cathedral. The church was rebuilt in 1757 and stood until 1851 when it was demolished to make way for the present day building . Corgarff was united with Strathdon in 1958 under the name of Corgarth Strathdon and the united parish later formed a union in 1996 with the parishes of Auchindor Kildrummy and Glenbuchat-Towie, under the name of Upper Donside. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Alford, until by Act of Assembly XXII, 1962, the Presbytery of Deeside and the Presbytery of Alford were united under the name of the Presbytery of Deeside and Alford. It is currently part of the Presbytery of Gordon. |
