The church of Strathcaro, was dedicated to St Rule and the parish was a prebend of Brechin. In 1618 the parishes of Dunlappie and Strathcaro were united. A new church was built at Strathcaro in 1799 which subsequently underwent extensive repairs in 1844-1845. Logie-pert was linked with Strathcaro in 1957 and later in 1990 the parish of Brechin Cathedral was formed by the union of Brechin Maison Dieu and Strathcaro. The kirk session sat with the Presbytery of Brechin and later Brechin and Fordoun until by Act of Assembly ,1961, the Presbytery of Arbroath, The Presbytery of Forfar and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun were united under the name of Angus and Mearns. |
