Prior to the reformation the church of Spott was a prebend of the collegiate church of Dunbar and ministry is recorded here from 1559 in the person of John Hamilton. Spott was united in 1959 with Innerwick under the name of Innerwick and Spott, this union however was later severed by the General Assembly in 1977 and in the same year Spott was linked with Belhaven. Spott church underwent extensive renovations in both 1790, and between 1967-1974. The kirk session sat with the Presbytery of Dunbar, later Haddington and Dunbar and presently of Lothian. |
