Sandbank originally existed as a parish quoad sacra and services here commenced in 1864, ministry of the church is recorded from 1869 in the person of Gavin Mason. The parish of Sandbank was disjoined from Dunoon and Kilmun and erected as an independent parish on the 11h December 1876. In 1929 the charge took the name of Sandbank St Andrew's Church of Scotland, and united with the former United Free Church session of Sandbank St John's in 1936, taking the simple name of Sandbank Church of Scotland. In 1947-1948, the St John's Church was demolished. Kilmun St Munn's was linked with Sandbank in 1967 and in 1986 Sandbank was additionally linked with Dunoon St John's. |
