The church at Rayne was dedicated to St Andrew and was a prebend of Aberdeen. Ministry is recorded at Rayne from 1567 in the person of Andrew Thomson, reader here and at Daviot. The present day church was built in 1789 and over the years has been witness to many additions and alteration. In 1964 the Parish of Oyne was linked with Rayne, this arrangement however was terminated in 1973 in favour of a linkage between Rayne and Daviot. Culsalmond and Rayne were later united in 1989 under the name of Culsalmond and Rayne. The linkage with Daviot continued after the union. The kirk session of Rayne sat within the Presbytery of Garioch and later of Gordon. |
