The parish of Port-Glasgow was disjoined by the Commissioners of the Plantation of Kirks from the parish of Kilmacolm on 1st July 1696. It was not however erected into an independent parish until the 13th October 1714, due to delays caused by local difficulties. The church was rebuilt in 1823 and underwent a complete renovated in 1952. The charge was united in 1972 with Port Glasgow Clune Park and Port Glasgow Princes Street under the name of Port Glasgow St Andrew's. Port Glasgow Old Kirk Session, sat within the Presbytery of Greenock. |
