The church of Oyne was originally a prebend of Aberdeen. A united free church was established in Oyne and in order to distinguish between the United Free Church and the Parish Church in the early 20th century, the latter became known as Oyne St Ninians and the former Oyne West. The two sessions of St Ninians and West were united in 1940 under the name of Oyne. The session was later linked with Rayne in 1964 but this arrangement was terminated in 1973 in favour of a link with Leslie-Premnay. The united parish of Inch-Leslie-Premnay-Oyne was formed in 1983 when the named parishes were joined together. The kirk session of Oyne sat in the Presbytery of Garioch and later of Gordon. |
