The medieval church was dedicated to St Ternan and was appropriated to the Abbey of Arbroath. Ministry began in 1652 with Thomas Myrton serving as vicar. Prior to 1929 the session was within the jurisdiction of Kincardine O'Neill Presbytery, followed by Deeside Presbytery until 1962. With the union of Deeside and Alford Presbyteries, the session was within the jurisdiction of Deeside and Alford Presbytery up until 1976 after which time it was within the jurisdiction of Kincardine and Deeside Presbytery. In 1981 Banchory-Ternan kirk session linked with Durris, that link being terminated in 1986. |
