The register of the Synod of Moray begins on the 30th September 1623. Initially the Synod's boundaries were formed by the following Presbyteries: Strathbogie, Aberlour, Abernethy, Elgin, Forres, Nairn and Inverness. By the mid 20th century however the Synod comprised only three Presbyteries, namely Abernethy, Elgin and Inverness.
