The erection of the Presbytery of Middlebie was proposed by the General Assembly in 1581 and the register starts on the 12th April 1699. In 1743 the General Assembly founded the new Presbytery of Langholm, largely through means of annexations from the Presbytery of Middlebie. Following this action in 1743, the location of the court was removed from Middlebie to Annan and from point forward the Presbytery became known as the Presbytery of Annan. |
