The church of Maybole, Ayrshire, originally served a medieval parish whose vicarage was appropriated to the nunnery of North Berwick. In the 1570s it was united with Kirkbride, which before the Reformation had been similarly appropriated. Maybole church was rebuilt in 1808. The charge, now Maybole Old, is in Ayr presbytery. Until the reorganisation of 1929 it was in the synod of Glasgow and Ayr, thereafter in that of Ayr until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
