The church of Fowlis and Liff was formed by the union of Fowlis with Liff and Benvie on 7 June 1953. The parishes of Fowlis Easter and Lundie were united on 31 January 1618 as Lundie and Fowlis. The parishes were disjoined on 7 June 1953 when Fowlis united with Liff and Benvie under the name Fowlis and Liff. The parish of Lundie, meanwhile, united with Muirhead of Liff under the name Lundie and Muirhead of Liff. The parishes of Liff, Invergowrie, and Logie were united on 3 September 1613. On 8 August 1753 Benvie was also joined with them. Subsequently, Logie was disjoined in 1877 and Invergowrie in 1917. The parishes of Lundie and Muirhead and Fowlis and Liff were linked on 17 May 1995. The church of Fowlis and Liff is in the Presbytery of Dundee, which was in the synod of Angus and Mearns until the abolition of synods in 1992. |
