The Church of Kirkpatrick-Fleming was dedicated to St Patrick and the parish received the name Fleming after the family of Fleming of Redhall who were in ownership of most of the parish lands. Ministry is recorded here from 1577 in the person of Robert Johnston. Kirkpatrick-Fleming was united with the parishes of Kirkconnel and Irving in 1609. It was later linked with Half Morton in 1962 and almost twenty years later in 1981 the parish of Gretna Old, St Andrew's and Half Morton and Kirkpatrick- Fleming was formed by the union of the named parishes. Kirkpatrick Fleming sat within the Presbytery of Annan (later Annan and Eskdale). |
