The Church of Kingoldrum which lies in the Presbytery of Meigle (later the Presbytery of Angus) and formerly the Synod of Angus and Mearns was dedicated to St Medan and the church belonged to the Abbey of Arbroath. Ministry at Kingoldrum is recorded from 1567 in the person of James Steill. The parish of Lintrathen was linked with Kingoldrum in 1933 and the two parishes united in 1938. The union between Kingoldrum and Lintrathen was severed in 1980 but the two parishes were linked once more in 1994. 1994 also saw the formation of the session of Airlie Kingoldrum and Ruthven through the union of the three named parishes and in the same year the new unified parish was linked with Glenisla and Kilry. |
