The kirk session of Kildrummy sat in the Presbytery of Alford (later Deeside and Alford) and the Synod of Aberdeen and the church was dedicated to St Bride. Kildrummy during the early stages of it's life was surrounded by a marsh, as a result it was once known as 'the Chapel of the Loch'. Little remains of the old church with only the north and east walls and the Elphinstone burial place left standing. The parishes of Kildrummy and Auchindor united in 1650, this union however was only to last three years and was again severed in 1653. Glenbuchet was linked to Kildrummy in 1955 however the link again was short lived and was severed a year later in preference of a linkage with Auchindor. Auchindor went on to unite once more with Kildrummy on 1st April 1964. The Kirk Session of Upper Donside was formed in 1996 by the union of Auchindor Kildrummy, Corgarff Strathdon and Glenbuchat-Towie. |
