There has been a church in Kells since the 1560s, but the church was rebuilt in 1745 and again in 1822. In 1963 Kells was linked with Balmaclellan Church, the link being terminated in favour of a union of the two churches in 1992, taking the name Balmaclellan and Kells Church of Scotland. At the same time a link was established between the united charge and Dalry Church, with a further link being established with Carsphairn Church in 1994. |
