Archival history |
In the 18th century the Synod of the Relief Church formed a congregation which met in Belmont Street, Aberdeen, for worship. The minister and his congregation passed to the Church of Scotland in 1791, the church becaming a Chapel-of-Ease. The South Parish was disjoined from that of St Nicholas on 5th March 1828. At the union of the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland in 1929, the charge became known as Aberdeen, St Nicholas South, to differentiate it from the former United Free Church which became known simply as Aberdeen South Church of Scotland. In 1953 St Nicholas South united with the congregation of Aberdeen, Kincorth. The united charge was named St Nicholas South Kincorth, and a new church was opened and dedicated on 27 March 1955. The old church and halls were sold to St Nicholas West Church for use as halls. |
