In 1581 the General Assembly erected this church court, initially under the name of the Presbytery of Cunningham. It soon became known however as the Presbytery of Irvine on account of the place of meeting of the court. The registry starts on 20 October 1646. During the 19th century the court session boundaries changed and the Presbytery became termed Presbytery of Irvine and Kilmarnock. |
